Working this morning, but still managed to stop and watch a Booted Eagle as it worked the wind and drifted lazily over the hillside below. Dark form this time, but the pale patch underneath the end of the wing showed well in good light...a glimpse of the paler "V" of diagonal wing bars across the back of the bird dispelled any lingering doubt. Soon after a pair of dark Booted Eagles passed slowly westwards, the pale wing patches again proving the distinctive point to look for. Their "hiyaah" cries really do bring Buzzards back home to mind.
A pair of Ravens showed well not long after, the "cronk...cronk" calls immediately familiar and instantly recognizable. You've got to love a bird that flies upside down just to impress. Another day on the Lanjaron hillside, and I'd yet to finish work...
